(LINCOLN, NE) Growth Management Corporation has announced that the Amigos location in downtown Lincoln at 14th & Q will close. After almost 37 years at this location, the last day of business will be Friday, December 13th. The 14th & Q property will be available for sale and development. 

Company leaders plan to focus on continued growth, as well as implementing catering and third-party delivery. President Roger Moore stated, “It’s always a difficult decision to close a store, especially one that’s been a part of our company for so many years. We believe we can find alternate ways to serve the downtown area and UNL campus through catering, delivery, perhaps a smaller location, or maybe even a food truck. Being in the restaurant industry, staffing continues to be a concern, so we look forward to utilizing all of the 14th & Q staff in other locations. No one will lose a job because of this closing. As the restaurant industry continues to evolve and change and as Amigos approaches our 40th Anniversary, we will continue to make the decisions needed to best position us for the future.” 

In the past two years, Growth Management Corporation (GMC) has opened two new locations in Lincoln at 27th & Fletcher and 40th & Yankee Hill Road, as well as four locations in the Omaha area. The first Amigos opened in Lincoln in June of 1980. There are currently 30 Amigos restaurants across Nebraska. GMC is an ESOP company which is 100% employee owned.
